Introduction To Labyrinth Sales
Labyrinth Sales Company was founded in 1986 by Steven Kaufman in Cleveland, Ohio. He spotted an emerging market in sports licensed products and decided it would be a worthy pursuit as a salesman. In its infancy, Steven was able to establish representation agreements with a handful of key manufacturers in the licensed sports industry. He worked a traditionally assigned territory to find leads and put together programs featuring NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and Collegiate licenses with an exceptional proficiency in hot market management.

As successes mounted, Labyrinth Sales morphed into a larger agency and hired independent sales reps to cover territories beyond Ohio and Pennsylvania. Coverage expanded east towards Maryland, Virginia, and the Carolinas, as well as moving west to cover Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. As the agency grew, sales increased and larger customers were added which, in turn, allowed an increase in vendors. New channels of distribution were added every year including specialty retail, gift stores, food & drug, sporting goods chains, department stores, mass merchants, distributors, and many more.
Always looking to evolve and stay ahead of market trends, Steven began to work on the e-commerce channel of distribution in the early 2000s (upon the insistence of his teenage children). Over the past 15 years, e-commerce has become an essential portion of any sales program and Labyrinth’s early entry allowed them to make ground floor level contacts as well as hire staff with expertise in managing all aspects of this growing channel of distribution.
After establishing Labyrinth Sales as a top sales agency in a dynamic business, Steven began to take on larger responsibilities from manufacturers looking to grow their licensed business. In 1988, he established Creative Design & Marketing, Inc. (CDMI) as his consulting and specialty project company. CDMI is hired by manufacturers as both a consultant and national sales manager to advise, develop product lines, hire sales representatives, and work with key national accounts. CDMI operates separately from Labyrinth Sales Company, but will often coordinate with their resources to assist in regional and key account sales.
Now celebrating our 35th year of business, the combined companies and divisions have consolidated into a new dynamic space located in Solon, Ohio. Our Labyrinth Sales account management team and CDMI’s specialty projects divisions are both headed by Steven; Greg Roscoe provides supporting management over the Labyrinth Sales Division and Shari Griffith provides supporting management over the CDMI Division and there are an additional 3 sales associates based out of this office. The e-commence Division is headed by Lisa Sheffler and is currently staffed by 5 associates devoted to this business. Our other independent sales reps work in their territories covering a total of 12 states with thousands of retail accounts including numerous key national accounts and distributors.
